K-Melasma
K-Melasma is the Association of Korean Dermatologists’ guideline-based, non-invasive cosmetic procedure using Bipolar Advanced Microneedling Radiofrequency EBD with specific parameters for melasma.
Key Benefits
K-Melasmais effective for
Melasma
Repairs the "Leaky" Basement Membrane
In clients with melasma, the thin layer between the top and bottom layers of skin is often damaged or "leaky," allowing pigment to drop into deeper layers where it’s harder to treat. K-Melasma strengthens and thickens this layer, helping to "lock" pigment in the upper layers for easier treatment.
Reduces Abnormal Blood Vessels
Melasma is often fueled by excessive blood vessels. K-Melasma can selectively target and shrink these abnormal vessels, reducing the underlying redness and inflammation that triggers pigment production.
Safe for Darker Skin Tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI)
Because K-Melasma is "colorblind" (it doesn't target melanin directly), it has a significantly lower risk of causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It delivers heat into the deeper skin while sparing the sensitive surface layer.
Enhances Topical Absorption
The micro-channels created by K-Melama allow pigment-correcting topicals to penetrate much deeper and work more effectively than if they were just applied to the surface.
Reverses Solar Elastosis (Photoaging)
Melasma is often linked to damaged collagen from sun exposure. K-Melasma stimulates fresh collagen and elastin, replacing damaged "solar elastosis" tissue with healthy skin, which helps normalize the skin's signaling and reduces pigment activity.

Number of sessions
The number of sessions varies based on the type of melasma, associated skin conditions including redness and desired results.
A series of 5-10 sessions is recommended, spaced 2-4 weeks apart.
Downtime
Minimal to no downtime. After treatment, most clients experience very mild or no redness that subsides within a few hours.
Unlike more invasive procedures, there’s no need to take days off work or limit activities. Clients are usually free to return to their normal routines immediately after their treatment.
During treatment
You may experience a very mild, pricky sensation or no sensation at all.
After Treatment
Apply a cold pack for a few minutes as often as possible on the day of treatment. Ensure you apply sunscreen properly.
Starting the day of treatment, you may wash your face, shower and also resume outdoor activities, provided you wear sunscreen.
FAQs
How does it work?
K-Melasma strengthens the damaged thin membrane, effectively “patching the holes” and stopping pigment from migrating deeper. And it targets the abnormal vessels, shrinking them and reducing the chronic inflammation that triggers pigment production.
K-Melasma selectively targets the “zombie” cells sending signals that tell pigment cells to overproduce and K-Melasma prompts the skin to replace them with young, healthy fibroblasts that don’t trigger excess melanin.
K-Melasma helps break up existing clusters of pigment. These micro-particles are then naturally cleared by the body’s lymphatic system or shed through the skin’s surface as new, healthy cells regenerate.
How long does it take to see results?
It also depends on the type of melasma and any associted skin conditions. Usually most clients start seeing the difference after a few sessions.
How long is the session time?
